Introduction to Robotics: Search and Rescue LEGO Robot Competition Finals
Abstract: Introduction to Robotics (16-311) will have their finals of a search and rescue LEGO robot competition in the REL ( NSH 3206). Students have to build a robot, drive through a mock collapsed building and locate survivors (World Wrestling Federation figures with famous CMU people's faces pasted on them). One small challenge: students are in a remote location driving the robot using images from a camera on-board the robot.
This year, to have a Quality of Life spin on things, we will have our robots rescue people in an old age home. Some people will have "special" medical needs that will be addressed on the fly. This means that students will have to locate survivors and deliver medicine to some of them if necessary. We will have four demos in the final round each lasting 12 minutes. Please come to one or more in the REL.
