Community Technology Forum: Technology Consulting in the Community
Abstract: The Computer Science course, 15-391: Technology Consulting in the Community,
partners student consultants with leaders of nonprofit organizations. The
goal of the partnership is to expand the capacity of the community partner
to use, manage and plan for technology. The student learns to analyze a
complex situation, communicate with nontechnical partners, negotiate a plan
of work, and follow through by documenting outcomes and making
recommendations.
At the Community Technology Forum, each partnership will share their
outcomes from the semester's work. They are both informative and often
entertaining!
This is an opportunity to hear the challenges, successes and issues related
to integrating technology into nonprofit organizations and to network with
others. You will also hear nonprofit leaders explain how they negotiated
barriers and are now seizing new opportunities. Forum participants will
receive a copy of the consulting reports.
Please join us!
Lunch will be provided.
The event is open to anyone but please RSVP to angieb@cs.cmu.edu if you plan to attend.
