Location: 3305 Newell-Simon Hall Speaker: Faculty Panel: Stephen Fienberg, Carlos Guestrin, Robert Murphy, Tom Mitchell (moderator) Title: Directions & Thesis Topics in Machine Learning - A Faculty Panel Discussion Abstract: Machine Learning is a rapidly evolving discipline - but where is it headed? This seminar will involve a panel discussion in which three speakers present their own views on key research opportunities in machine learning for the coming decade, along with examples of PhD topics that would move us forward in their suggested direction. Following their presentations there will be time for discussion among panelists and the audience.
